IPL 2023: Big Blow to CSK as Ben Stokes Likely to Miss CSK Match against MI Due to Knee Injury

IPL 2023: Big Blow to CSK as Ben Stokes Likely to Miss CSK Match against MI Due to Knee Injury – The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to face off against their archrivals, the Mumbai Indians (MI), in the 12th match of the TATA IPL 2023. This match has been one of the biggest rivalries of the IPL and is popularly referred to as the EL Classico of the IPL by fans of both teams.

As the massive game between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings is set to take place at Wankhede Stadium today at 7:30 PM, unfortunate news has emerged from the Chennai Super Kings dugout. According to sources, the star player of CSK, Ben Stokes, might miss today’s intense match due to a knee injury. As per reports, after Friday’s training session, Stokes suffered pain in his heel and has been advised to rest for ten days by the physiotherapist.

Ben Stokes’ Performance for CSK in IPL 2023

With a massive fan following, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is one of the most popular team franchises in the TATA IPL 2023. Having played two matches so far, CSK has secured two points on the points table. After losing their opening match to the Gujarat Titans, they bounced back to register a win against the Lucknow Super Giants in their home ground in Chennai.

Stokes’ performance in the two games he played for CSK was not noteworthy. In the first match, he returned from an injury and only contributed as a batsman, scoring 7 runs off 6 deliveries with a boundary. In the second match at Chepauk, he managed to score only 8 runs off 8 deliveries, with a strike rate of 100 and was dismissed after hitting only one boundary. He bowled one over and conceded 18 runs, which was unexpected.

Both the team management and fans were disappointed with Ben Stokes‘ performance in the two matches he played. Chennai Super Kings had paid a huge sum of ₹16.25 crore for the English all-rounder after outbidding others in the TATA IPL 2023 Auction. It is hoped that Stokes’ injury is not serious and he can continue to play for the Yellow Team, delivering entertaining and exciting performances.
