India All Geared Up for the T20 World Cup Ahead

It is difficult to find someone who is not a cricket fan, especially in India. Cricket is nothing short of a religion in India, that brings people from all over the country together. Cricket is the second-most watched sport of all time, after football, and the fans do know how to make some noise when need be.
The ICC World Cup is approaching fast, and the men in blue are gearing up to put on their best performance at the tournament.

The eighth edition of the ICC T20 World Cup is to be hosted by Australia this year from 16th October to 13th November. The host, Australia, is also the defending champion at the moment. The cities where the matches will be held include Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney, Geelong, Melbourne, Hobart, Melbourne.

The semi-finals are scheduled to take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 9th November 2022, and at the Adelaide Oval on 10th November 2022. The final match will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The Men in Blue have been placed in Group 2, along with Bangladesh, Pakistan, and South Africa, and 2 more teams that are yet to be decided (it would depend on the qualifier match). Their first match is against Pakistan on 23rd October, which means that online bookmakers will have a gala time that day. You can read more about it here.

Since the World Cup is still a few months away, the squad has not yet been finalized. But there are a few candidates who come to mind when you think of the Indian cricket team.

These players have put on quite a spectacular performance this year, from the Commonwealth Games to the various ODI tours undertaken by the team. Some of the strongest players, who should be on the team, include:

Rohit Sharma

With 2 matches to his name this year, Rohit Sharma has only managed to score a total of 90 runs, with his highest score being 46.

KL Rahul

KL Rahul had been out of the field due to his injury, but he returned on the Zimbabwe tour. This year, he has only played 2 matches, he has scored 80 runs, with the highest score being 50 runs.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli might have stepped down as the captain, but he is still a vital player for India. In only 4 matches, he has scored 220 runs this year, with his highest score being 79 runs.

v1

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan has played 6 matches this year and has been able to score 301 runs. His high score is 107 runs.

Since Rohit Sharma is the skipper, he seems to be almost a sure-shot choice for the team. But if his recent performance is to be evaluated, he has not been doing so well. The other players have a better average than him, when the statistics for 2022 are compared. Who else do you think will make it to the T20 squad?
