MS Dhoni steps down as CSK captain ahead of start of IPL 2022, Ravindra Jadeja to lead
After MS Dhoni, who has led the team since the first season of the tournament in 2008 – except for the two years during which the team was banned – announced his intention to step down as captain, Ravindra Jadeja will assume the position of captain of Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming IPL 2022. In a statement, the franchise said that “Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond”.

CSK has been skippered by Mahavir Dhoni throughout all three seasons in which it has participated in the IPL, and to date, he has been the most expensive buy at the inaugural IPL auction. As a result of his leadership, CSK have won 121 of the 204 games they have played in the IPL so far.
CSK also won the IPL trophy four times with Dhoni as captain – in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021.
