Former Indian first-class cricketer Jagadeesh Arunkumar has been appointed as the assistant batting coach for the Mumbai Indians team for the upcoming 2023 Indian Premier League season.

After announcing his retirement from IPL , Kieron Pollard has been appointed as the new batting coach for the Mumbai Indians. The team had previously released him before the 2023 IPL Auction. In addition, Jagadeesh Arunkumar has been named as the assistant batting coach for the Mumbai Indians.
He has a wealth of experience, having played in over 100 first-class matches and scoring over 7,000 runs, including 20 centuries. Arunkumar also has international experience, having represented India on Under 19 tours of South Africa and England. He also played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2008 IPL edition.
Jagadeesh Arunkumar has a noteworthy career in coaching. In 2012, he was appointed as the batting coach for the Karnataka State Ranji Trophy team, where the team went on to win back-to-back championships in the Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup, and Vijay Hazare Trophy during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. He then joined Kings XI Punjab as their batting coach for the 2017 IPL season.
In 2019-20, Arunkumar was appointed as the head coach of the Puducherry cricket team but left the position due to a disagreement with Cricket Association of Pondicherry officials regarding his health. In April 2020, he was appointed as the head coach of the United States national cricket team, replacing interim coach James Pamment. In the recent IPL 2023 Auction, Mumbai Indians broke their previous record by acquiring Cameron Green for a significant sum of INR 17.50 crores, making him the second most expensive player in IPL auction history.
