RCB will face a tough challenge in their away game against Punjab Kings, who have a good track record against them in the IPL. Let’s have a look at the predicted playing XI for RCB in this game.
In the last game, RCB suffered a defeat against CSK in a high-scoring match where their bowlers failed to contain the opposition’s batsmen, conceding 226 runs. As a result, they are under pressure and need to win this upcoming match to keep their hopes alive in the tournament. With only two wins in five games, they need to improve their performance and get back to winning ways.

The bowlers of RCB will need to evaluate their performance after conceding 226 runs in their previous game against CSK, despite having a good batting lineup. However, in their game against Delhi Capitals, they had successfully limited the opposition to under 180 runs.
Captain Faf du Plessis needs to manage his bowlers better, as in the previous game he had given only two overs to Wanindu Hasaranga while the other bowlers went for runs.

|RCB Playing 11 vs PBKS|
|Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis (c), Mahipal Lomror, Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed, Wayne Parnell, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Anuj Rawat, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj|
Faf du Plessis (C) – RCB Captain IPL 2023
Faf du Plessis will continue to open the batting for RCB. He started off strongly with a good performance against Mumbai Indians but has not been consistent since then. However, he found form against CSK and scored an impressive 62 off 33 balls. Currently, he holds the Orange Cap with 259 runs from five games.
Against CSK, Kohli was dismissed early after scoring just 6 runs off 4 balls. However, he is RCB’s highest scorer against Punjab Kings, with 802 runs in 29 matches. So far in IPL 2023, he has scored 220 runs in five matches.
Mahipal Lomror / Anuj Rawat
One of Rawat or Lomror is likely to bat at number three. Rawat scored 26 off 18 balls against Delhi Capitals but was dismissed for a duck in the last game against CSK. RCB is currently missing Rajat Patidar who was impressive for them in the last season.
Maxwell will bat at number four in the RCB line-up. He played brilliant innings of 76 runs off 36 balls in the previous match against CSK, which kept RCB’s hopes alive in the chase. This was his highest score of the season so far. Maxwell has accumulated 176 runs in five matches in IPL 2023.
The skipper will send the Bengal all-rounder to bat at number five. In the last match, he scored 12 runs off 10 balls and got dismissed while trying to hit big. Faf didn’t utilize him with the ball. So far, the left-arm spinner has failed to produce a substantial knock with the bat in this IPL season.
Dinesh Karthik will occupy the sixth position in the batting order. In the last match, he scored 28 runs off 14 balls and tried to keep Bangalore in the chase. However, he too got dismissed. He had a good strike rate of 200 in the last game. Karthik has scored only 38 runs in five games played so far this season.
Faf du Plessis gave Wanindu Hasaranga only two overs in the previous match against CSK. Hasaranga made his IPL 2023 debut against DC, where he picked up a wicket for 37 runs. He did not get to bat in that match. Hasaranga missed RCB’s first three matches due to international commitments, but he is now available for every game. The leg-spinner took 26 wickets last season.
Harshal can slot in at eight. He is one of the two Indian seamers in the playing XI. He went for 36 off just 3.2 overs against CSK. Like every bowler, he too was expensive going at an economy of over 10.
Siraj bowled an impressive spell of 1 for 30 in four overs, while the other bowlers leaked runs against CSK. He took a wicket during the powerplay, demonstrating his ability to make early breakthroughs. Given the fast and bouncy wicket at Mohali, Siraj may excel in this game and needs to replicate his performance from the previous match.
RCB has the option to replace Parnell with Willey for their game in Mohali. Willey is known to swing the ball early and can also contribute with the bat. RCB will have to choose between these two pacers for the fourth overseas slot.
RCB should consider picking Chetan Sakariya over Vijaykumar Vyshak, who conceded 62 runs in the previous game against CSK. This would give RCB a strong bowling attack, with Harshal Patel, Mohammad Siraj, and Wanindu Hasaranga also in the side. The rest of the batting order is likely to remain the same.
