IPL 2023: West Indies players who were flopped and failed in IPL History
West Indies players in IPL 2023:There is no doubt that West Indian players have always been favored by crowds wherever they have gone and the same is true in the IPL as well. As a team, they have dominated the T20 format, and their players are considered the hot properties in franchise cricket. There are a number of West Indies players who have proven themselves over the years in the IPL and have become integral parts of their franchises.
During an interview, last year, former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop discussed how the IPL has affected players from his region and how they have felt more secure as a result of the tournament. It is well known that numerous West Indian players are stars in India and the Indian fans go crazy for their contributions to the various franchises. Despite the fact that players like Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, and Kieron Pollard have all been regarded as to match winners, there have also been players that have not quite lived up to their hype and have struggled to make an impact at the Indian Premier League.

West Indies players who were flopped in IPL
Here, we take a look at 3 West Indies players who flopped in the IPL:
#1. Carlos Brathwaite
During the final of the World T20 tournament in 2017, this big-hitting all-rounder blew Ben Stokes away with a quartet of four-shot sixes out of the park and was the talk of the town. Carlos Brathwaite is not only a hard-hitting all-rounder of the ball, but he is also an excellent bowler as well. Even though he was honored to be named the captain of the West Indies T20I team for a short period of time, he failed to fulfill his potential.
Although he had all the points for being a match-winner in the T20 format, he was unable to make the cut in the IPL. He has played 16 matches in his IPL campaign so far and he has only managed to score 181 runs, with an average of 13.92.
With regards to his bowling skills, he has only taken 13 wickets in 16 matches, with an economy rate of 8.85.
#2. Darren Sammy
The leading batsman who led West Indies to two World T20 triumphs, Daren Sammy, was never able to translate his international form into success in the IPL. He managed to score only 295 runs in 22 matches at an average of 19.66 and with a strike rate of 122.40. Not only that, but he wasn’t an effective bowler as well – he took only 11 wickets in 22 matches and was never able to restrict the scoring or take wickets.

#3. Marlon Samuels
Another big-ticket IPL player who flopped in the IPL was the guy responsible for guiding the West Indies to not one, but two T20 World Cups. With 22 appearances in the IPL, he scored 295 runs and took 11 wickets but still managed only 295 runs.
In the Pakistan Super League, he played a major role in guiding Peshawar Zalmi to three finals and a championship.
#4. Shivnarine Chanderpaul
Chanderpaul, as a batsman from the Caribbean Islands, was one of the best and most compatible players of all time. With the West Indies side, Chanderpaul has played in 164 Tests and 268 One Day Internationals. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) picked him in the first season despite not being a big cricket ball hitter. Chanderpaul scored 25 runs in three games for the RCB in the IPL with a strike rate of 80.
