#1. Chris Gayle Double Century vs Zimbabwe in World Cup 2015 – (215 runs)

In 2015, Chris Gayle became the first player to score a double century in a World Cup. This happened during the 15th match of the tournament between the West Indies and Zimbabwe in Canberra. The West Indies won the toss and chose to bat first.

Although they lost Dwayne Smith without scoring, Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels created history with a record 372-run partnership, the highest in ODI cricket.

Marlon Samuels scored an unbeaten 133 runs from 156 balls, hitting 11 fours and three sixes. Meanwhile, Chris Gayle smashed his first ODI double century, scoring 215 runs off 147 balls, including 16 sixes and 10 fours.

The West Indies posted a huge total of 372/2. Zimbabwe fought hard but were all out for 289 runs, leading to a West Indies victory by 73 runs using the DLS method.

On November 7, 2023, Glenn Maxwell delivered one of the most extraordinary performances in ODI cricket history, scoring an unbeaten 201 runs off 128 balls against Afghanistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup. This remarkable innings took place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and led Australia to a thrilling three-wicket victory, securing their place in the semifinals.

Australia was in a dire situation when Maxwell came to the crease. Chasing a target of 292 runs set by Afghanistan, Australia was reeling at 49/4 and later slumped to 91/7.
