The two rivals open their Hong Kong Sixes 2026 campaign against each other in a Group C clash at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok on Friday, October 30, 2026. Six players a side, six overs an innings, and every ball matters: this is a shootout, not a Test match.

Hong Kong Sixes Format: Six-a-Side, Six Overs

The Hong Kong Sixes is cricket at full throttle. Each team fields six players and bats for a maximum of six overs, and every player except the wicketkeeper must bowl at least one over. There is no time to settle in: one big over can decide the match, and one quiet over can end it.

The 2026 edition features 12 teams in four groups of three, playing 25 matches across three days from October 30 to November 1. Group C is India, Pakistan and the UAE, and the group winners go through to the Cup semi-finals.

IND vs PAK Hong Kong Sixes 2026 Squads

India: Krunal Pandya (captain), Shashank Singh, Rahul Tewatia, Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi, T. Natarajan, Kulwant Khejroliya. Krunal takes charge after Bhuvneshwar Kumar, initially named captain, was replaced in the squad by Kulwant Khejroliya.

Pakistan: Abbas Afridi (captain), Abdul Samad, Ahmed Daniyal, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Khawaja Nafay (wicketkeeper), Muhammad Shahzad, Saad Masood. Pakistan arrive as defending champions and will look to Afridi, their captain and a proven big-hitter in this format, to lead from the front.

What to Watch in IND vs PAK at Hong Kong Sixes

India’s squad is built for this format: Shashank Singh and Rahul Tewatia are two of the IPL’s most feared finishers, Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi can clear the ropes from ball one, and T. Natarajan’s yorkers are made for the death overs of a six-over innings. Krunal Pandya’s left-arm spin and lower-order hitting give the side balance in a format where every player must contribute with bat and ball.

Pakistan, though, know how to win this tournament — they are the defending champions, and their squad mixes power (Abdul Samad, Muhammad Irfan Khan) with Afridi’s all-round game. In a six-over match, one Afridi over with the bat can be the whole game.

India open their campaign with this match, so there is no warm-up game to find rhythm. The team that adapts to the pace of six-a-side cricket first — hitting from the first ball, bowling full and straight — will take a big step toward the semi-finals.
