What Might Be Coming with the T20 Blast Shake-Up?

The T20 Blast cricket league (or Vitality Blast, as it’s currently known for sponsorship reasons) is the top tier of men’s professional cricket in England and Wales. It’s a Twenty20 cricket competition that follows the standard T20 format.

Here are some of the possible changes the ECB is considering in their T20 Blast shake-up for the new season, which is scheduled to get underway in May 2024.

What new changes are we likely to see in the T20 Blast shake-up?

According to reports, the top tier of men’s domestic cricket in England and Wales could end up getting rid of the current regional structure and bring in a new group structure. It will have two groups based on each team’s seeding that have been determined by performance.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) aims to keep the competition relevant alongside The Hundred. Mixing things up like this means teams could end up playing opponents of a similar ability they have never played before.

It means fans and spectators could also have a greater variety of cricket grounds and opponents to visit while ensuring cricket’s biggest local derbies in England and Wales still occur. It could boost total attendance figures and bring more money into the sport, giving it the vital boost it needs.

However, for any new changes to come into effect, at least 12 of the 18 counties must vote in favour of them.

What to remember when placing cricket bets

The thing to remember when placing cricket bets or any other sports bets is that no bets are guaranteed. Always remember to set a budget, and then to ensure you stay within your budget, try not to chase any losses you incur.

You can set win/loss, deposit, and session time limits at many of today’s most reputable online bookmakers.

Finally, remember to gamble responsibly by using one or more of the other ‘safer gambling tools’ that are now available at UK-licensed sites and that you must be at least 18 years old to bet on sports.
