1. Rohit Sharma – Only Batsman With Three ODI Double Centuries

When it comes to scoring double hundreds in ODIs,Rohit Sharma is the only batsman to score three double centuries in ODI cricket, a unique record that no other batsman has come close to breaking.

In a span of just over 5 years between 2013 to 2018, Rohit has smashed not one, not two but scored 3 double centuries in ODI cricket. This is a unique record that may not be broken for a very long time.

Rohit’s first double ton came against Australia in 2013 when he scored a blistering 209. He followed it up next year with 264 against Sri Lanka, the highest ever ODI score. And in 2017, he cracked 208 not out versus Sri Lanka again.

2. Martin Guptill – Highest Score by a New Zealander

Guptill smacked 24 fours and 11 sixes in the innings, single-handedly propelling New Zealand to 393-6, their highest ever ODI total.

3. Virender Sehwag – Second Player to Score to an ODI Double Ton 

The swashbuckling Virender Sehwag became the third Indian batsman to score a double century in ODIs, joining the list of highest players who have scored double centuries. His double ton came against West Indies in Indore on December 2011. Batting first after winning the toss, Sehwag smashed 219 runs off just 149 balls as India posted 418-5.

4. Chris Gayle (138 balls) vs ZIM, 2015

Chris Gayle previously held the record for the fastest ODI double-century: 200 off 138 balls against Zimbabwe at the 2015 World Cup. Gayle went on to score 215 runs off 147 balls, including 10 fours and 16 sixes.

He and Marlon Samuels (133* off 156) combined for a 372-run second-wicket partnership. West Indies scored 372 runs, and Zimbabwe were all out for 289—West Indies won by 73 runs (DLS method).

Pakistani left-hander Fakhar Zaman owns the record for being the fastest player to score a double century in ODIs.

In July 2018, batting against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, Zaman raced to 200 in just 156 balls. His innings of 210 not out was studded with 24 fours and 5 sixes. 

By reaching the milestone in 156 balls, Zaman broke the previous fastest double century record held by Indian opener Ishan Kishan at 131 balls.

Speaking of Ishan Kishan, the diminutive Indian wicketkeeper batsman now holds the record for the fastest double century ever scored in ODI cricket history.

In December 2022, batting in the third ODI against Bangladesh, Kishan carved out a sensational 210 off just 131 balls. His knock contained 10 sixes and 24 fours as he took the Bangladeshi bowlers to the cleaners.

Kishan broke Chris Gayle’s long standing record of 138 balls and announced himself on the world stage in spectacular fashion.

7. Shubman Gill – fastest double century in odi

Shubman Gill is the most recent player to register an ODI double, joining the list of cricketers who have scored a double century in ODI cricket. He achieved this feat in January 2023 against New Zealand in Hyderabad. Gill scored 208 runs off 149 balls, with 9 sixes and 19 fours.

Gill’s double century was the highest individual score in an ODI match between India and New Zealand. It also surpassed the record of the fastest ODI double previously held by Ishan Kishan.

Gill’s innings helped India post a mammoth total of 349/8. New Zealand chased bravely, but fell short by 12 runs. Gill was adjudged the player of the match for his brilliant batting performance.

Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has broken almost every batting record imaginable in his illustrious 24 year career. And on February 24, 2010 at Gwalior, he became the first cricketer in men’s cricket to scored the first double century in ODI. 

Against a strong South African attack boasting the likes of Steyn and Morkel, Tendulkar played a masterclass innings. He remained unbeaten on 200 off just 147 balls, a knock which included 25 fours and 3 sixes.
