ICC Allocates Extra Funds To PCB For Hybrid Champions Trophy 2025 Amid India’s Reluctance: Report

The ICC has decided to provide additional funds to the PCB for the Champions Trophy 2025 if some matches are held outside Pakistan. This decision comes as a response to India’s reluctance to travel to Pakistan. It appears that the tournament might be conducted in a hybrid format, similar to the Asia Cup 2023.

Moreover, the ICC has taken on the task of convincing the BCCI to allow the Indian team to travel to Pakistan. The ICC is also responsible for finalizing and announcing the tournament’s schedule, which is tentatively set to begin on February 19th, according to earlier reports.

A draft schedule circulating on social media suggested that all of India’s matches would take place in Lahore to address security concerns. However, with the BCCI still hesitant to send the team to Pakistan, the situation remains uncertain.

Pakistan, the reigning champions of the tournament last held in 2017, would have the opportunity to host an ICC event for the first time since the 1996 World Cup if the event proceeds in the country.
