India Makes History with Most 200+ Totals in T20 Cricket
India created history by becoming the first team to score the most 200+ totals in the shortest format of cricket, T20 International. The milestone was reached during the third T20I match against Bangladesh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, where India posted a massive total of 297/6. This marked the 37th time India had surpassed 200 runs in T20 cricket, a feat no other international team has achieved.
Team India win the 3rd T20I by 133 runs and win the IND vs BAN T20I series 3-0
The star of the match was Sanju Samson, who scored his first-ever T20I century in style. Samson smashed 111 runs off just 47 balls, hitting 11 fours and 8 towering sixes. His brilliant knock included five consecutive sixes in a single over, an impressive display of power and precision. This innings also made Samson the first Indian wicketkeeper-batter to score a century in T20 internationals.
Samson’s 111-run innings came at a crucial time for him personally, as he had struggled with form in the previous series. He shared after the match that he focused on sticking to his basics and was thankful for the support from the team management. Samson also recorded the second-fastest T20I century for India, reaching the milestone in 40 balls, just behind Rohit Sharma’s 35-ball ton against Sri Lanka in 2017.
Apart from Samson’s century, captain Suryakumar Yadav played a vital role, scoring a quick-fire 75 runs off just 35 balls. The pair put up a massive partnership of 173 runs for the second wicket, laying a strong foundation for India’s big total.
Later in the innings, all-rounder Hardik Pandya made his mark by blasting 47 runs off 18 balls, further boosting India’s score. Riyan Parag also contributed with 34 runs, helping India set a total of 297/6—the second-highest total ever in T20 internationals.
Bangladesh’s chase fell short as they managed to score 164/7 in their 20 overs. Towhid Hridoy was the standout performer for Bangladesh, scoring an unbeaten 63 runs from 42 balls. Litton Das also made a solid contribution with 42 runs off 25 balls, but it wasn’t enough to chase down India’s huge target.
India’s bowling attack, led by wrist spinner Ravi Bishnoi, kept Bangladesh’s batsmen in check. Bishnoi took 3 wickets for 30 runs in his four overs, making sure Bangladesh never got close to the target.
This victory added several new records to India’s T20I journey. The Men in Blue now hold the record for the most 200+ totals in T20 cricket, surpassing Somerset, who had achieved this feat 36 times. India also hit the most runs in boundaries in a single T20I, with 22 sixes and 25 fours during their innings.
