In 2016, Babar Azam made a name for himself by scoring three back-to-back centuries against the West Indies in One Day International (ODI) matches. He became only the second player, after Quinton de Kock, to score three consecutive centuries.. With his sharp timing and smart shot selection, Babar handled the West Indies bowlers with ease.

Over the next three years, he kept up his excellent form, scoring quick hundreds against top teams like Australia and England. Babar had now become a key player in shorter formats of cricket. His consistent big scores at a fast pace made him one of the top ODI batsmen in the world.

Babar Azam has scored nine centuries in Test cricket, accumulating 3,772 runs in 49 matches with an average of 47.74. Along with his nine hundreds, he has hit 26 half-centuries. One of his standout performances was a determined 196 against Australia in the Karachi Test, helping Pakistan secure a draw on day five.

Out of his nine centuries, three came against Sri Lanka, two each against Australia and New Zealand, and one each against Bangladesh and England.

Babar Azam Centuries in ODI

Babar Azam has been a standout player in One Day International (ODI) cricket, setting numerous records with his flawless timing and variety of shots. He became the fastest Pakistani to reach 1,000 ODI runs and quickly followed that by being the fastest to hit 3,000, 4,000, and 5,000 runs. Babar Azam Centuries in ODI stand at 19, including a remarkable 158 against a powerful England bowling attack. His batting average of 59.47 places him among legends like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.

Babar’s record-breaking journey includes becoming the fastest player to score 15 ODI centuries in just 83 innings, surpassing Hashim Amla. He is also the second quickest to reach 4,000 ODI runs, achieving it in 82 innings, just one short of Amla’s record.

Babar made history by being the first player to score three consecutive ODI centuries twice, most recently against the West Indies in 2022. His first trio of centuries came in 2016, also against the West Indies. Along with 19 centuries, he has racked up 28 half-centuries, solidifying his place among the best in ODI cricket.

Babar Azam has proven his skill in Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket, showing he can succeed in this format as well. With three centuries to his name, he has shown he can handle any bowling attack. His knock of 122 against top bowlers like Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje is a clear example of his talent in T20Is.

Babar has scored 3,485 runs in 104 T20I innings at a strike rate of 129.88, making him the fourth-highest run-scorer in T20Is. He is also the only Pakistani player with more than one century in this format.
