Priyanshu Moliya triple century headlines Ranji Trophy Round 3 batting

The innings of the round belonged to Priyanshu Moliya, whose unbeaten 321 off 492 balls, with 36 fours and a six, carried Baroda to 616 against defending champions Jammu and Kashmir at Vadodara. The knock broke Gul Mohammad’s 79-year-old Baroda record of 319 and is now the second-highest score of the current Ranji season, behind only Chinmay Sutar’s 400 not out. Jammu and Kashmir, forced to follow on after 303, held on at 316 for 6 to save the draw.

Delhi captain Ayush Badoni continued his remarkable season with a second consecutive double century, finishing unbeaten on 210 off 228 balls against Jharkhand at Ranchi. His unbeaten 334-run stand with Sumit Mathur, who made 150 not out, took Delhi to 515 for 5 declared — but rain then washed out the final two days, leaving Jharkhand on 131 for 4 and both sides sharing the points. Badoni, who scored 217 against Gujarat in the previous round, is now the 21st Indian batter to score double centuries in consecutive first-class innings.

The other giant batting performance came at Chandigarh, where Nehal Pajni scored 222 and Arjun Azad made 147 as Chandigarh declared at 685 for 5 against Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh replied with 559 for 6, built on hundreds from Inesh Mahajan (121) and Akash Vashisht (126 not out), and the highest-scoring draw of the round was the result.

Musheer Khan and Saransh Jain star with bat and ball in Round 3

Mumbai’s perfect start continued with a 10-wicket win over Haryana at the BKC Ground. Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored 114 in Mumbai’s 430 and then an unbeaten 67 off 39 balls in the chase of 97, but the player of the round for Mumbai was Musheer Khan, who scored 109 in the first innings and took eight wickets across the match as Haryana, made to follow on, were bowled out for 256 in their second innings.

Madhya Pradesh recorded their first win of the season in style, beating Bihar by an innings and 174 runs at Indore. Saksham Purohit scored 132 and captain Rajat Patidar made 109 in Madhya Pradesh’s 407 for 8 declared, before Saransh Jain claimed a 13-wicket match haul as Bihar were dismissed for 99 and 134.

Bengal made it three outright wins from three with a 287-run thrashing of Kerala at Thiruvananthapuram. Bengal posted 350 and then 198, and bowled Kerala out for 141 and 120, with Shahbaz Ahmed and Pradipta Pramanik among the standout performers. Bengal now sit top of Elite Group C with 18 points.

Elsewhere, Vidarbha beat Goa by an innings and 27 runs at Nagpur, with Dhruv Shorey’s hundred leading the hosts to 442 for 8 declared and Harsh Dubey taking four wickets in Goa’s second innings. Karnataka beat Tripura by an innings and 116 runs, with Shreyas Gopal taking a five-wicket haul, and Saurashtra beat Assam by an innings and 12 runs after bowling Assam out for just 94 second time around. Tamil Nadu edged Railways by five wickets, and in the Plate Group, Manipur beat Arunachal Pradesh by four wickets.

Ranji Trophy Round 3 group standings highlights

Bengal’s hat-trick of wins leaves them top of Elite Group C with 18 points, while Mumbai’s three wins from three keep them perfect in Elite Group D and Vidarbha’s third straight win — over Puducherry, Jammu and Kashmir and now Goa — keeps them in front in Elite Group A. Delhi’s rain-hit draw at Ranchi cost them a chance at maximum points despite Badoni’s double century, and defending champions Jammu and Kashmir remain winless after their draw at Vadodara. In Elite Group B, Karnataka’s innings win over Tripura was their first outright victory of the season, while Punjab and Hyderabad shared the points in their draw.
