Vyshak Vijay Kumar IPL Stats, Price, Runs, Age, Century, Debut, Team
Vyshak Vijay Kumar is a Karnataka right-arm medium-fast bowler whose IPL career began with one of the most memorable debuts in recent memory. Signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore in April 2023 as an injury replacement for Rajat Patidar, he marked his first IPL match eight days later with 3/20 against Delhi Capitals — dismissing David Warner and Axar Patel in the same spell, and setting the record for the best figures by an RCB bowler on IPL debut. Through the 2026 season, he has played 26 IPL matches and taken 26 wickets, moving from RCB to Punjab Kings in the 2025 mega auction.
Born on January 31, 1997, in Bangalore, Vyshak was 29 years old in October 2026. He is known for his clever variations, cutters and slower balls, and a knack for the death overs. His domestic form earned him a maiden India T20I call-up for the South Africa tour in late 2024, though he is yet to make his international debut.
Vyshak Vijay Kumar IPL Career Overview
Vyshak’s path to the IPL was unconventional. He started cricket as a batsman and only converted to medium pace later, a transformation shaped by coach Bharat Arun. His domestic career with Karnataka began with his List-A debut in February 2021, his T20 debut in November 2021 and his first-class debut in February 2022 — a rapid rise through all three formats in a single year.
In April 2023, with RCB needing a replacement for the injured Rajat Patidar, they signed Vyshak. His debut on April 15, 2023, against Delhi Capitals at the Chinnaswamy Stadium was a dream: 3/20 in four overs, the wickets of David Warner, Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav, and a 23-run RCB victory. He finished the 2023 season with 9 wickets from 7 matches.
RCB retained him for 2024, but opportunities were scarce — 4 wickets from 4 matches. Released before the 2025 mega auction, he became a wanted man: Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings both bid for him, and PBKS won the race at INR 1.80 crore — six times his base price. He played for Punjab in the 2025 season, including their run to the final, and was retained for 2026, taking his IPL career to 26 matches and 26 wickets.

Vyshak Vijay Kumar IPL Bowling Stats
Vyshak has taken 26 IPL wickets from 26 matches at an average of 34.85 and an economy of 10.47, with best figures of 3/20. The economy rate is on the higher side — a reflection of his role: he bowls the toughest overs in T20 cricket, the powerplay and the death, where batters attack relentlessly.
His domestic T20 record is stronger: 42 wickets in 30 T20s for Karnataka, alongside 103 first-class wickets and 34 List-A wickets — numbers that explain why franchises keep investing in him despite modest IPL returns.

Vyshak Vijay Kumar Playing Style and Role
Vyshak is a right-arm medium-fast bowler who survives on intelligence rather than raw speed. His weapons are variations: clever cutters, slower balls, wide yorkers and changes of pace that make him hard to line up at the death. He is a capable lower-order batter — a legacy of his days as a batting all-rounder before the conversion to pace.
