1. 2010 Final vs Chennai Super Kings (Runners-up)

The 2010 IPL final saw MI lock horns with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Dr DY Patil Stadium. Led by Sachin Tendulkar, MI had a phenomenal season, topping the league stage with 10 wins. CSK, packed with superstars like MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, and Muttiah Muralitharan, posed a formidable challenge.

Batting first, MI posted 168/5, thanks to Saurabh Tiwary’s impressive 65-run knock. However, CSK’s experienced batting lineup proved too strong, successfully chasing the target with two balls to spare. Despite falling short, MI’s maiden final appearance was a stepping stone toward future glory.

2. 2013 Final vs Chennai Super Kings – (Champions)

In 2013, MI brought in legendary coach John Wright and new captain Rohit Sharma. After finishing second in the league stage with 11 wins, MI faced CSK in Qualifier 1 and lost a close game.

But Rohit led by example in Qualifier 2 win against Rajasthan Royals to set up a rematch with CSK in the final. This time MI took sweet revenge. Thanks to Kieron Pollard’s brilliant 60 runs, MI scored 192/5. Even better was to follow.

3. 2015 Final vs Chennai Super Kings (Champions)

By 2015, MI had established themselves as serious title contenders. After finishing strong in the league stage, they defeated CSK in Qualifier 1, thanks to Lendl Simmons’ unbeaten 68-run effort.

In the final, MI set a formidable total of 202/5, led by Rohit Sharma’s 50 and Pollard’s crucial 36 off 36 balls. CSK’s chase never gained momentum, and they fell short by 41 runs. With this triumph, MI became the first team to win two IPL titles, stamping their dominance on the league.

4. 2017 Final vs Rising Pune Supergiant (Champions)

After missing the playoffs in 2016, MI returned stronger in 2017. They finished atop the league with 10 wins but lost Qualifier 1 to Rising Pune Supergiant, led by Steve Smith.

The final was a low-scoring thriller. Pune posted 129/8, and MI’s chase went down to the wire. Crucial contributions from the Pandya brothers saw MI secure victory on the last ball, winning by just 1 run. This triumph made them three-time champions, equaling CSK’s record.

5. 2019 Final vs Chennai Super Kings (Champions)

After a disappointing 2018 campaign, MI bounced back in 2019 with a strong start, winning five consecutive matches. They faced CSK in Qualifier 1 and defended a modest total of 162 to reach the final.

The final was another nail-biter, with MI edging out CSK by a single run. With this dramatic win, MI secured their fourth IPL title, reaffirming their status as one of the most dominant franchises in IPL history.

6.2020 Final vs Delhi Capitals (Champions)

Not satisfied with four previous titles, the Mumbai Indians team led by Rohit Sharma kept performing excellently in the 2020 season held in UAE. With strong batting and bowling efforts, MI topped the league stage despite some surprise losses.

They defeated Delhi Capitals convincingly in Qualifier 1 thanks to great batting displays to set up another final clash with them.
In the low-scoring final, it was MI’s all-round bowling attack that sealed a thrilling five-wicket win with just one ball remaining. This clinched MI’s record fifth IPL championship title.

So MI proved their champion mentality again in 2020, overcoming setbacks through collective performances en route to the trophy. Their bowling strength ultimately won them the closest of finals against Delhi.
