#1. Virat Kohli & AB de Villiers (RCB) – 229 runs
Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers set the IPL’s highest partnership record against Gujarat Lions in 2016. Bangalore lost Gayle early in their innings, but Kohli and AB combined brilliantly for the second wicket, amassing a massive 229-run partnership off only 96 deliveries. Kohli concluded his innings with 109 runs from 55 balls, while de Villiers remained unbeaten with 129 runs from just 52 deliveries.

The best batting partnership in IPL history is between Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. They scored two 200+ runs partnerships in back-to-back seasons for Royal Challengers Bangalore!First, they scored 215 run partnership against Mumbai Indians in 2015. Both players also scored hundreds.

#3. Quinton de Kock & KL Rahul (LSG) – 210* runs
The 2022 IPL saw new history being made when KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock made the highest ever first wicket stand. The pair from Lucknow Super Giants batted the whole innings and were unbeaten on 210 off just 18.4 overs!This huge opening partnership was against Kolkata Knight Riders. LSG chased down 211 easily.
Both players played some beautiful shots, especially on the off side.Quinton was the first to trouble the bowlers, reaching his fifty in just 23 balls! Rahul picked up the pace later, hitting fours and sixes easily to win the game for LSG.
Their 210 run partnership broke the old record of 206 runs set by Gilchrist and Marsh. It showed the strong batting of LSG, led by captain Rahul.

Shubhman Gill and Sai Sudharsan of the Gujarat Titans have secured their place among the top 5 highest partnerships in the history of the Indian T20 League. Both openers from Gujarat delivered a devastating performance against the Chennai bowlers.
Gill scored 104 runs from 55 balls, while Sudharsan matched him with an equally impressive 103 off 52 deliveries. Together, they propelled Gujarat to a total of 231 runs in their allotted 20 overs, marking this partnership as the league’s joint-highest opening stand to date.
5. Adam Gilchrist & Shaun Marsh (PBKS) – 206 runs
The first ever 200+ run partnership in IPL history fittingly involved the legendary Adam Gilchrist showing his power. In 2011, opening for Kings XI Punjab with Shaun Marsh, he made 206 runs against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore team in Dharamsala.
This remained the highest partnership in IPL for 11 whole years!Chasing 206 runs to win, Gilchrist attacked fiercely from the first ball, incredibly reaching his fifty off just 26 balls. He hit eight sixes and nine fours in his 42 ball 106! Marsh provided good support with 66.
Together their first ever 200+ stand for KXIP chased the target in just 17.2 dramatic overs!Gilchrist’s blistering hundred put his team in a dominating position, allowing Marsh and others to complement him. It showed why Gilchrist is considered the best wicketkeeper opener ever in cricket history.
