Sri Lanka's 260/6 against Kenya remains the highest team total in Men's T20 World Cup history. The record was set in Johannesburg during the first edition of the tournament in 2007.

Sanath Jayasuriya led the innings with 88 from 44 balls, hitting 11 fours and four sixes. Mahela Jayawardene added 65 from 27 balls, while Jehan Mubarak provided a rapid finish with 46 from only 13 deliveries.

Kenya were then bowled out for 88, giving Sri Lanka a 172-run victory.

The 260/6 total survived the rapid growth of T20 batting for almost two decades. India came within four runs of it in 2026 but could not move past the mark.

2. India – 256/4 vs Zimbabwe, 2026

India recorded the second-highest team score in T20 World Cup history with 256/4 against Zimbabwe in Chennai during the 2026 Super Eight stage.

India entered the game needing a strong response after losing their previous match and produced one of the fastest-scoring innings ever seen at the tournament.

Ireland were struggling at 64/4 before Lorcan Tucker and Gareth Delany rebuilt the innings.

Tucker finished unbeaten on 94 from 51 balls, while Delany made 56 from 30. George Dockrell then scored 35 from nine deliveries.

Ireland added 86 runs in the final four overs and eventually bowled Oman out for 139.

8. England – 230/8 vs South Africa, 2016

England produced one of the greatest successful chases in World Cup history when they reached 230/8 against South Africa at the Wankhede Stadium in 2016.

South Africa had scored 229/4, with Quinton de Kock, Hashim Amla and JP Duminy all making half-centuries.

England attacked from the beginning of the chase. Jason Roy struck 43 from 16 balls before Joe Root took control with 83 from 44 deliveries.
