Most Runs Against KKR in IPL History

Most Runs Against KKR: The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been one of the most consistent franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL), having won the title twice in 2012 and 2014. A key factor behind their success over the years has been their lethal bowling attack comprising the likes of Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Pat Cummins and more.

However, even the best bowling lineups have their poor days and some world-class batters have made it a habit to score big against the Kolkata-based franchise. In this blog, we look at the top 10 batters with the highest runs scored against KKR in the 16 years history of IPL.

#1. David Warner – 1093 Runs Against KKR

David Warner remains the highest run-scorer against KKR in IPL history.

Across 28 innings, he has accumulated 1,093 runs at a strike rate above 145 — the highest among the top five. Warner is also the only batter to score 1,000+ runs against KKR while representing multiple franchises (Delhi Daredevils/Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad).

His 126 in 2017 remains the highest individual score by a captain against Kolkata.

Warner’s approach has always been simple: attack early, disrupt Narine’s rhythm, and put pressure back on KKR’s middle-overs strategy.

#2. Rohit Sharma – 1082 Runs Against Kolkata

Rohit Sharma was the first player in IPL history to score 1,000 runs against a single team (KKR).

After the 2025 season, his tally stands at 1,082 runs in 35 innings. He is now just 11 runs behind Warner for the all-time top spot.

Rohit’s 109* remains one of his finest knocks against Kolkata. Unlike Warner’s explosive approach, Rohit often builds through timing and placement before accelerating late.

In IPL 2025, he added another match-winning cameo against KKR, reaffirming his reputation as Kolkata’s long-term headache.

#3. Virat Kohli – 1021 Runs

On August 6, 2025, Virat Kohli smashed 59 off 36 balls to guide RCB to a 7-wicket victory over KKR. That innings pushed him past the 1,000-run milestone against Kolkata.

He now has 1,021 runs in 32 innings at an average of 40.84.

Kohli is the first player in IPL history to score 1,000+ runs against four different franchises (DC, CSK, PBKS, and KKR).

His tactical shift against Sunil Narine in recent seasons has been noticeable. Instead of playing him cautiously, Kohli has started attacking Narine in the powerplay, disrupting KKR’s traditional control phase.

#4. Shikhar Dhawan – 964 Runs

Shikhar Dhawan sits just outside the 1,000-run club with 964 runs in 32 innings.

His strike rate (119.50) is lower than the others in the top five, but Dhawan’s value lies in consistency. He anchors innings and builds platforms, especially in the powerplay.

Following the 2025 season, Dhawan moved closer to the 1,000-run milestone. If he plays another full season, he is likely to join the elite club.

5. Suresh Raina – The Silent Destroyer (829 Runs)

Suresh Raina, though retired, remains one of the most successful batters against KKR.

In 23 innings, he scored 829 runs at an impressive average of 43.63 and a strike rate of 136.57. His eight fifties against Kolkata highlight how frequently he delivered.

Raina’s strength was his ability to attack spin — a crucial skill when facing Narine and KKR’s slow-bowling combinations.
