From 16th October, the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 will begin in Australia. For the 8th T20 World Cup Season, 16 teams have qualified. There will be two stages to the 2022 T20 World Cup. The first round of the tournament, known as the Round 1 stage, consists of groups of teams from the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 qualifiers tournament.

ICC T20 Team Rankings currently rank England 1st after the former world champions. On the ICC T20 Team Rankings ahead of the Qualifier tournament, they secured the best place among the top eight teams. Consequently, they were given access to the Super 12 stage.

India

In the inaugural season of the T20 World Cup 2021, Pakistan defeated India in their group match with a huge margin of 10 wickets. Since then, India has been looking forward to reclaiming the title.

According to ICC T20 Team Rankings, they currently rank second. They were also among the eight teams to make the ICC’s Top 8 rankings for T20 cricket ahead of T20 Qualifying tournament for the World Cup. In order to ensure Indian cricket teams are assigned to the Super 12 stage, ICC allocated them Group 2.

West Indies

Despite having won the tournament only twice, West Indies is the defending champion. According to the ICC ranking for team T20s, they are currently ranked 10th. Their ranking on ICC T20 Team rankings before the T20 World Cup Qualifiers tournament was among the top eight. Thus, they were directly qualified for the Super 12 round.

Afghanistan

One of the luckiest teams to reach the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup was Afghanistan. In accordance with the T20 World Cup rulebook, Afghanistan was part of the top eight ICC T20 team rankings going into the World Cup qualifiers.

The Super 12 stage was therefore open to them. Group 2 of the Super 12 stage includes Afghanistan .

South Africa

The South Africans have never won the T20 World Cup title despite reaching the semi-finals of multiple tournaments. A few countries that play Tests have yet to add the T20 World Cup to their collection. Rankings for the ICC T20 Team World Cup currently have South Africa ranked fifth.

 Australia

While Australia has won the ICC Cricket World Cup five times and captured the title of the T20 World Cup in 201. Two of these tournaments resulted in finalists, while the third saw the team come runner up. Despite their dominance, one of the most dominant teams has yet to win a T20 title.

Rankings for the ICC T20 Team show that Australia is currently ranked 7th. In advance of the Qualifying tournament for the 2022 World Cup, they topped the ICC T20 Team Rankings among the top eight teams. As a result of the rules of T20 World Cup, they qualified directly for the Super 12.

Pakistan

Pakistan has been one of the most dominant teams to play in this tournament since its inaugural season. During their inaugural season, they were runner up to India and won the 2009 T20 World Cup. Furthermore, they qualified for the semi-finals of the 2010 and 2012 T20 World Cups as well.

The Pakistan cricket team ranked in the top eight on the ICC T20 Team rankings ahead of T20 World Cup qualifiers based on its previous T20 World Cup results. This ensured their direct qualification for the Super 12 stage

New Zealand

For two T20 World Cup tournaments, New Zealand qualified for the semi-finals but never made it to the finals. According to the ICC T20 Team Rankings, they are currently ranked fourth. In addition, New Zealand also ranked one of the top eight teams on the ICC T20 Team Rankings ahead of the T20 World Cup Qualifiers tournament. They were therefore placed in the Super 12 stage by the International Cricket Council.
