From 17th October, the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 will begin in the UAE and Oman. For the 7th T20 World Cup Season, 16 teams have qualified. There will be two stages to the 2021 T20 World Cup. The first round of the tournament, known as the Round 1 stage, consists of groups of teams from the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 qualifiers tournament.
There are two groups of ICC T20 qualifying teams for Round 1. Here is all the detailed information about the teams.
ICC T20 World Cup 2021 qualifiers took place in 2019 and six teams were eligible for the 7th edition of the T20 World Cup after competing in these qualifiers.
In addition to Oman, the T20 World Cup 2021 host team, Namibia, the Netherlands, Scotland, and Papaua New Guinea made the cut for the final six teams to qualify.
However, there was no qualification for the Super 12 Stage in T20 World Cup 2021 for Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. They will therefore be required to participate in the qualification process.
T20 World Cup 2021 Teams List
There are six teams in the T20 World Cup 2021 tournament. ICC has divided them into two subgroups called Group A and Group B. Only four teams (two from each group) will advance to the Super 12 stage.
T20 World Cup 2021’s Round 1 will see Bangladesh compete against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. It was not possible for them to make it into the top eight ranked teams on ICC T20 Team Rankings.
In order to qualify for the Super 12 stage, they will have to compete in the Round 1 stage. Bangladesh is grouped with Oman, Scotland and Papua New Guinea in Round 1 of the ICC World Cup qualifying.
Prior to the T20 World Cup 2021, Ireland was not among the top eight ranked teams in ICC T20 Teams rankings. The ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers for 2021 were held in the UAE in 2019, which meant they had to compete in those matches.
In the 3rd place play-off match, Ireland defeated Namibia by 27 runs to finish in the qualifying tournament. In the Round 1 phase of the 2021 World T20 Cup, they will be grouped with Niamey, Sri Lanka, and Netherlands.
In the T20 World Cup qualifiers for 2021, Namibia was one of the six teams that made it to the 1st Round. After losing by 27 runs to Ireland in the play-off for third place, they finished fourth.
They were however among the top six teams that finished at the top of the table after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2021 Qualifiers tournament. In the first round of the competition, they are grouped with the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, and Ireland.
Papua New Guinea
After finishing 2nd in the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers, Papua New Guinea will host the 2022 World Cup. Netherlands defeated them by 7 wickets in the final match of the qualifiers tournament. Therefore, they earned a second-place finish in the ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers 2021. The goal is to qualify for Round 1 of the Round 1 stage along with Oman, Bangladesh, and Scotland.
In order to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2021, the Netherlands participated in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 qualifiers. In the final T20 World Cup Qualifiers match against Papua New Guinea, they finished first on the table.
This qualifies them for the T20 World Cup in 2021. As of now, Ireland is paired with Sri Lanka, Namibia, and Namibia in the T20 World Cup 2021 Group A stage
Before the ICC T20 World Cup qualifying tournament, Sri Lanka did not qualify among the top eight ranked teams on the ICC T20 Team Rankings.
Due to this, the ICC has placed Sri Lanka in Group A for the first stage of the tournament. It is rather shameful for Sri Lankan cricket, who once held the T20 World Championship in 2012, and are now trying to qualify for the Round 1 stage against other teams.
During the T20 World Cup 2021 Qualifiers tournament, Oman competed as a host nation. T20 World Cup 2021 will be held in England in 2021. They were among the six teams that advanced from the qualifying tournament. Following their 12 run victory over Hong Kong in Qualifier 4, they lost by five wickets to Scotland in the fifth-place playoff match.
The T20 World Cup 2021 qualifiers tournament thus concluded with them securing the 6th position. As of now, they are grouped with Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea, and Scotland in the first round by the ICC.

The fifth-place playoff match was won by 5 wickets by the team that beat the host nation of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers. In the FIFA qualifying tournament, Scotland finished in fifth place. Papua New Guinea is now in Group B of the First Round, along with Bangladesh, Oman, and Oman.
Super 12 Stage
To qualify for the Super 12 stage, eight ICC T20 World Cup 2021 teams had to rank top on the ICC T20 Team Ranking before the qualifiers. Australia, New Zealand, England, St. Kitts & Nevis, South Africa, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan are among them.

ICC T20 Team Rankings currently rank England 1st after the former world champions. On the ICC T20 Team Rankings ahead of the Qualifier tournament, they secured the best place among the top eight teams. Consequently, they were given access to the Super 12 stage.
South Africa has been placed among Australia, West Indies, and West Indies in Group 1 of the Super 12. As part of Group 2, England is later joined by teams from the B1 and A2 pools from the 1st Round.
The inaugural season of the T20 World Cup saw India defeat Pakistan in the final to become the first ever champion. Since then, India has been looking forward to reclaiming the title.

According to ICC T20 Team Rankings, they currently rank second. They were also among the eight teams to make the ICC’s Top 8 rankings for T20 cricket ahead of T20 Qualifying tournament for the World Cup. In order to ensure Indian cricket teams are assigned to the Super 12 stage, ICC allocated them Group 2.
Despite having won the tournament only twice, West Indies is the defending champion. According to the ICC ranking for team T20s, they are currently ranked 10th. Their ranking on ICC T20 Team rankings before the T20 World Cup Qualifiers tournament was among the top eight. Thus, they were directly qualified for the Super 12 round.
A group of three countries has been established for the Super 12 stage with West Indies in Group 1. During the tournament, they will be joined by two qualifying teams from the Round 1 stage.
One of the luckiest teams to reach the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup was Afghanistan. In accordance with the T20 World Cup rulebook, Afghanistan was part of the top eight ICC T20 team rankings going into the World Cup qualifiers.
The Super 12 stage was therefore open to them. Group 2 of the Super 12 stage includes Afghanistan .
The South Africans have never won the T20 World Cup title despite reaching the semi-finals of multiple tournaments. A few countries that play Tests have yet to add the T20 World Cup to their collection. Rankings for the ICC T20 Team World Cup currently have South Africa ranked fifth.
Before the Qualifiers tournament, they occupied a good position on the ICC T20 Team rankings. As a result, they have direct entry into the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup 2021. With Australia, the West Indies, England and two other qualifiers from Round 1, South Africa is placed in Group 1 of the Super 12.
While Australia has won the ICC Cricket World Cup five times, it has never been able to capture the title of the T20 World Cup. Two of these tournaments resulted in finalists, while the third saw the team come runner up. Despite their dominance, one of the most dominant teams has yet to win a T20 title.

Rankings for the ICC Twenty20 Team show that Australia are currently ranked 7th. In advance of the Qualifying tournament for the 2021 World Cup, they topped the ICC T20 Team Rankings among the top eight teams. As a result of the rules of T20 World Cup, they qualified directly for the Super 12.
According to the ICC, Australia is assigned to Group 1 during Super 12 while England, South Africa, and West Indies are in Group 2. Later, teams from Round 1 and Round 2 will be added in Group 2.
Pakistan has been one of the most dominant teams to play in this tournament since its inaugural season. During their inaugural season, they were runner up to India and won the 2009 T20 World Cup. Furthermore, they qualified for the semi-finals of the 2010 and 2012 T20 World Cups as well.
The Pakistan cricket team ranked in the top eight on the ICC T20 Team rankings ahead of T20 World Cup qualifiers based on its previous T20 World Cup results. This ensured their direct qualification for the Super 12 stage. A group of Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, and New Zealand make up Group 2 of ICC’s Super 12 stage.
For two T20 World Cup tournaments, New Zealand qualified for the semi-finals but never made it to the finals. According to the ICC T20 Team Rankings, they are currently ranked fourth. In addition, New Zealand also ranked one of the top eight teams on the ICC T20 Team Rankings ahead of the T20 World Cup Qualifiers tournament. They were therefore placed in the Super 12 stage by the International Cricket Council.
There are two other qualifying teams as well as Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India in the Super 12 stage of the competition.
